This Houstonian is one of the founders of the Be Good Tanyas–a solid little outfit–but her solo stuff seems to be where it’s at. She’s got some pretty big wind in her sails, signing on ANTI- records where Tom Waits be housed. Waits is apparently a huge fan (I think I first heard of her from a list of stuff that Tom said he likes). She seems to have a bit of Karen Dalton in her boots, maybe mixed with a touch of Madeleine Peyroux. Pretty much all of her songs are extremely good. I look forward to seeing her live sometime.
